3/29/2021 Update – Cleaned Encoder Reader (and made SOP w/Syrena!) – The Lens/Mirror assembly no longer smashes left/right – The LaserTestv4 file looks a lot cleaner than it did, great work yesterday crew! – User tested a ~24″ x 8″ raster + vector, worked great.
3/28/2021 Original PostThe evening of 3/27/21 Eric ran into a badly skewed engraving about halfway down his raster job. So far we:
Changed the lens. About 6 scratches, almost all parallel to each other, plus a white dot. NOTE: the green O-ring in the box is too big. Reused the black one.
Ran a file, and the rastering was unclear.
Checked and set the Tickle settings to:
Laser T.M. to 2 Laser T.I. to 1
NOTE: Lonny had set these about mid-February, but today they were at zero. NOTE: Is there any reason the settings would have been cleared out?
NOTE: All of the settings that Lonny made in February were noted on a now-missing sheet of paper.-Rastering still unclear.
Modified the Focus Adjustment from -087 to -095 NOTE: Lonny believes they had set this to -087 in February-Rastering looked good on the small test in the upper left of the bed, but when we ran a ruler in the middle or so of the bed we got the skewing again.
Flipped the data cable and used a can duster to try to clean things up.
NOTE: according to the Lasers Skewing Raster Art Checklist, this was done on 1/15, so the cable should be replaced.-On startup, the optics carriage whacked itself against the sides of the enclosure, right/left/right/left.
Cleaned the encoder strip. NOTE: Epilog online says to clean the top of the encoder strip, I thought it was at the point where the strip meets the bar? Need clarity. Both done.-On startup, the optics carriage whacked itself against the sides of the enclosure, right/left/right/left.
Things to do next:
- Clean the encoder reader and take pictures of the process.
- Replace the data cable.
- Cry a little.
